Measuring Your Opening
Accurate measurements are essential for a perfect fit and smooth operation. Follow these steps to ensure your custom wrought iron gate or railing fits your space precisely.
1. Measure the Width
- Measure the distance from the inside of one pillar to the inside of the opposite pillar.
- If posts are not yet installed, measure the clear opening where the gate or railing will go.
- If you need posts, we will make the necessary allowances for them when manufacturing your gate.
- Take measurements at three points: top, middle, and bottom of the opening.
- Use the smallest measurement to ensure the best fit for your gate or railing.
2. Measure the Height
- Measure from the finished ground level (or the base where the railing will sit) up to the top of the pillar or beneath the coping stone.
3. Check for Obstacles
- Ensure there’s enough space for the gate to swing open.
- Check for nearby walls, posts, steps, or slopes that might affect installation or operation.
4. Consider the Ground Surface
- If the ground is uneven, take multiple measurements at different points.
- Gates can be built slightly taller or shorter to accommodate slopes; always provide the lowest height measurement.
5. Double-Check Your Measurements
- Always measure twice to avoid mistakes.
- Write down all measurements clearly and keep a sketch if possible.
Tip: If you’re unsure, take photos and notes of the space-it helps our team guide you for a perfect fit.
